Abend previously worked as the international product lead for the property segment and before then was head of international property for Bermuda and London.
He has been with the Axa XL Reinsurance team for 10 years.
In his new role, he will work with the insurer’s clients and underwriting team to manage property treaty for Bermuda.
Bermuda reinsurance CEO Mark Twite said: “As we develop our product strategies in relation to this key line of business, [Abend’s] knowledge and experience will be vital to ensuring we service our clients effectively and ensure our long-term sustainability in the market.”
