CEA warns of 1.1 challenges after failure to fully renew 1.10 programme

The California Earthquake Authority (CEA) anticipates challenges in fully placing its $3.5bn 1 January-incepting reinsurance programme after it failed to secure full placement on its 1 October protection.

The CEA buys several single- and multi-year reinsurance protections staggered over a variety of renewal dates. The January-incepting programme is the largest of its syndicated coverages, while its 1 April protection of $1.4bn
