Florida Governor DeSantis cites Citizens assessment risk as driver for reform

In a speech made to residents of Key Biscayne last week, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said he was looking to expand state reinsurance support for local insurers ahead of a special session on insurance reform later this month.

According to local media, DeSantis pointed to the $2bn “extra layer” of funding that Citizens received following the special session in May of this year that had helped to keep “many more companies from going out of business”.
