Hull and cargo losses come in below average in benign 2021: Iumi

Cargo and hull losses came in below medium-term averages in 2021, and loss ratios continued to improve, according to a statistics report from the International Union of Marine Insurance (Iumi).

Hull claims amounted to $1.2bn in 2021 compared with an average of $1.6bn for 2013-21.

Meanwhile, cargo claims only came to $495mn, below the 2013-17 average of $1.4bn
