RenaissanceRe’s Upsilon platform will not write business in the retro renewals at 1 January, sources told this publication, as retro capacity is set to tighten even further than the underlying cat reinsurance segment in 2023.

Upsilon was formerly one of the most active collateralised platforms in the retro market, alongside players such as AlphaCat and Aeolus.
