RenaissanceRe retains its conviction in writing catastrophe reinsurance, but will likely put out reduced limits next year and expect clients to retain materially more risk as part of a dramatic pendulum swing in reinsurers’ favor.

In a wide-ranging interview with executives setting out its renewal positioning, the firm also made clear that terms and conditions need to tighten substantially, and that this would include an end to offering all-perils cat coverage.
