While damage from Hurricane Nicole looks minor, thinly capitalized and already vulnerable Floridian carriers may struggle to afford another retention loss after September’s Hurricane Ian, according to early commentary from market practitioners.

Nicole made landfall around 03:00 ET on the east coast of Florida on North Hutchinson Island, with sustained winds of around 75 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center.
