Swiss Re’s Dacey: Pricing to rise on every reinsurance line at 1.1

Swiss Re CFO John Dacey has predicted rate increases in every line of business in reinsurance at the 1 January renewal as carriers look to counter heavy 2022 losses and rising inflation.

On an analyst call to discuss Swiss Re’s Q3 results today, in which it revealed a $283mn nine-month loss for the P&C unit, Dacey said the reinsurer’s attempts to de-risk its P&C book will continue throughout next year.
