Mapfre Re profits surge 79% to EUR22.6mn despite cat uptick

Mapfre Re posted profits of EUR22.6mn ($22.5mn) in the third quarter, a year-on-year increase of 79%, despite an increase in mid-sized catastrophe events.

Profits at a group level at the Spanish insurer came in at EUR150.8mn over the quarter, down 6% from a figure of EUR160.4mn
