Assurant reported $124mn of catastrophe losses in the third quarter, primarily stemming from Hurricane Ian claims.

The carrier said the figure included its $80mn pre-tax per-event retention and $35mn of associated reinstatement premiums to restore up to layer three of the company’s US cat programme.
