Munich Re will take a “disciplined” approach to risk management and pricing at the January 1 renewal as the impacts of inflation, geopolitical events and climate change erode capacity and drive up the cost of coverage.

In a statement prepared alongside its pre-Baden-Baden conference press event, the carrier said “extreme” inflation and natural disasters call for more disciplined risk management from both cedants and reinsurers.
