Insurers welcome decision in £1.1bn Stonegate BI trial but appeal looms

Insurers have welcomed the publication of the judgment in the £1.1bn ($1.2bn) Stonegate Covid-19 BI trial, with the UK High Court finding substantially in favour of carriers on the key issue of aggregation.

MS Amlin said that, on the issue of aggregation and furlough payments, the court found “almost entirely in favour of insurers” over the pub group, a decision with the potential to have “an enormous financial impact” on UK insurers.
