Progressive’s reinsurers to take $1.2bn in property Ian losses

Progressive’s reinsurers are expected to incur $1.2bn in homeowners’ losses related to Hurricane Ian, from the total $1.4bn gross property losses that the insurer recorded from the storm as of September 30.

The Ohio-based carrier reported overall $760mn in cat losses related to Ian, for incurred but not reported claims, in one of the first cat disclosures around the storm that hit Florida and the Carolinas last month.
