Hurricane Ian will blow a major hole in Florida’s state (re)insurance funds, which have been largely replenished since their post-KRW lows despite 2017 storm Irma.

The cash built up since 2005 means that the state’s insurance infrastructure is in a relatively strong position to tackle Ian’s claims, even if Citizens would have been still better off had it had more reinsurance in place.
