Reinsurers are expecting to pick up the lion’s share of their residential Hurricane Ian losses from Florida domestics, but how far the loss might extend into nationwide insurers’ towers is more of an open question, with higher attachments offering reinsurers significant protection.

In general, much of the Ian loss taken by nationwide carriers in the state will relate to auto claims which are not reinsured by the largest carriers of such business.
