Hannover Re’s North American nat cat appetite flat despite expected rate increases

Hannover Re’s appetite for nat-cat business in Europe has increased, but the reinsurer is “unlikely” to follow suit in North America, despite expectations of double-digit rate increases next year, according to executive board member Silke Sehm.

With inflation at play in North America, and providers restricting their reinsurance capacity, Hannover Re anticipates a “robust” suppliers’ market for nat-cat business in the region.
