ILS investors remain ‘extremely cautious and selective’: AM Best

AM Best predicted that third-party capital in global reinsurance will hit $95bn in 2022, up by $1bn on last year’s total, as ILS investors remain “extremely cautious and selective”.

The ratings firm described ILS capital as “subject to the same level of scepticism” as that of traditional reinsurers’ capital, where in the past third-party investors had been “typically expected to react more swiftly to market conditions”.
