Three of the world’s four largest reinsurers continued to capitalise on rising prices at the mid-year renewals while Scor, deep in remedial work, cut gross premium.

From a profitability standpoint, the picture has been varied.

On a six-month basis Swiss Re, Munich Re and Hannover Re all booked sub-100% combined ratios for their P&C units, but only Munich Re managed an improvement, shifting its H1 combined...
