BoE’s Bailey: Market competitiveness ‘depends on regulators’ independence’

Bank of England (BoE) Governor Andrew Bailey has warned in a letter to the Treasury Committee that weakening the regulator’s independence would undermine reforms to improve the financial services sector’s competitiveness.

He sent the letter to outline his thoughts on the Financial Services and Markets Bill that is now going through Parliament.
