Plans for greater government oversight of UK regulators’ work have been delayed for now, according to chancellor Nadhim Zahawi, who delivered a speech at Mansion House yesterday on the imminent Financial Services and Markets Bill.

In his speech, Zahawi said financial regulators – in the bill set to be brought before Parliament today – would be responsible for promoting the global competitiveness of Britain’s financial sector.
