WTW has revised up its estimate of the total cost of implementing IFRS 17 to insurers by 20%, now putting it in the range of $18bn-$24bn.

Last year, WTW estimated that the regime could cost the industry up to $24bn.

The change reflects carriers realising more work will be required to implement the reforms than they first realised.
