Russia plans state guarantees to bypass EU oil-shipping sanctions

Russia intends to offer state guarantees to ships carrying Russian oil in a bid to get around the latest round of sanctions imposed on the state by the European Union (EU).

The EU’s sixth sanctions round was announced earlier this month, featuring the prohibition of EU entities from insuring ships carrying Russian oil, a major roadblock in the state’s ability to continue trading.
