Deal flow in the legacy market is expected to remain “buoyant” in 2022 and beyond due to a combination of motivated sellers and active buyers with capital to deploy, according to AM Best.

The ratings agency said legacy deal volumes picked up in 2021 following Covid-19-related disruption, and that this momentum had since carried over into early 2022, with several large transactions to date representing total estimated liabilities of $4.2bn.
