Moody’s upgrades Axis to stable on improving profitability

Moody’s has changed Axis Capital Holdings Limited’s rating from negative to stable following the abandoned sale of its reinsurance arm.

The agency attributed the change in rating to the carrier’s improving core underwriting profitability, “which has benefited from higher pricing in both insurance and reinsurance”, as well as the re-underwriting of certain underperforming business lines.
