The 1 June reinsurance renewal is largely stalled three weeks out from the official start of hurricane season, as uncertainty over last-minute regulatory reform and a fundamental lack of attritional-level capacity are combining to justify all the forecasts for a highly challenged Florida renewal.

Several firm-order terms have been released, but underwriting sources suggested these were being taken as an “opening salvo” rather than as terms that should clear the capacity cedants are seeking.
