Gard reported profits after tax of $34mn in the year to February 2022 as gross written premiums swelled 12% to $1.04bn, surpassing $1bn for the first time.

The profit of $34mn represents a 50% decline from a figure of $68mn in the prior year, driven by volatility in the marine insurer’s investment book.
