The extensive use of broker facilities in the political violence (PV) market has come under the spotlight following potentially heavy losses emanating from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, with those in the market expecting tougher restrictions on business written via facilities and less power ceded to the lead underwriters.

Sources have told this publication that PV business is one of the most facilitated classes in the market, with transactions written via facilities contributing a majority of the business placed.
