Hiscox grows Q1 GWP by 10% and reserves $40mn for Ukraine

Hiscox expanded its premium income by 10% to $1.39bn in Q1 2022 as the carrier reserved $40mn net of reinsurance for claims relating to the Ukraine war.

The carrier said the losses incurred in the first quarter relating to Ukraine had been minimal, but the reserving was for expected losses, mainly through the political violence, war and terror portfolio.
