The European Union is proposing to extend its sanctions regime by banning European companies from insuring services linked to the transportation of Russian oil globally, according to a report from Bloomberg.

The bloc is currently working on its sixth package of sanctions as it looks to heap further economic pressure on Russia following its invasion of Ukraine.
