London’s marine market must continue to invest in underwriting talent, subscription market expertise and thought leadership to arrest its declining status as a centre for excellence in the business class, according to a panel at the Marine Insurance London conference.

AIG’s head of global specialty Paul Greensmith, one of the panellists, said London remained the “pre-eminent market” for large and complex marine business, but was facing ever-increasing competition from international markets.
