Caltagirone puts forward Generali’s Austria head as new CEO

Francesco Gaetano Caltagirone, Generali’s second-largest investor, has put forward Luciano Cirinà, the Italian insurer’s current head of Austria and Central and Eastern Europe, to become the company’s next chief executive, in a challenge to the reappointment of CEO Phillipe Donnet.

According to Reuters, Caltagirone said in a statement: "Under his leadership, that area has posted the stronger growth in recent years.
