Aviva profits slump 10% despite general insurance bottom line soaring 52%

Aviva reported a group adjusted operating profit of £1.6bn ($2.1bn) for its 2021 full-year financial results, down 10% from 2020 (£1.8bn), primarily due to a lower operating profit from UK & Ireland Life.

However, operating profit for the general insurance division improved by 52% to £762mn, owing largely to an improved underlying performance and a reduction in Covid-19 claims.
