Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is likely to impact the global insurance industry substantially in the near to midterm, particularly given the fallout in the capital markets and the potential for widespread cyber attacks, according to AM Best.

The ratings agency warned that further sanctions might affect international (re)insurers’ ability to underwrite Russian risks or make it more difficult to service claims on existing policies.
