Swiss Re P&C re unit swings to $2.1bn full-year profit for 2021

Swiss Re’s P&C reinsurance unit has reported a net profit of $2.1bn for 2021 compared to a loss of $271mn the year before, as the carrier emphasised a rigorous focus on portfolio quality and underwriting.

The group also returned to profit for the year, posting a net result of $1.4bn compared to an $878mn loss in 2020, as its return on equity (RoE) swung from a 3.1%
