QBE International’s pre-tax insurance profit for 2021 more than doubled to $716mn as the unit benefited from surging rates, underwriting discipline and favourable prior-year development.

At a group level, QBE reported a return to profit, posting a pre-tax result of $1.2bn compared with a $727mn loss the previous year.
