Everest Re reinsurance chief Jim Williamson said on Thursday that while there’s “no question” there are significant changes in pricing on underlying casualty portfolios, the upward movement in ceding commissions the company has seen so far remained reasonable.

Williamson was speaking to analysts a day after Everest reported a $228mn underwriting gain in the quarter, boosted by $176mn in underwriting profits from the reinsurance business.
