Generali director and board member Francesco Gaetano Caltagirone has resigned in a sudden move over which the company chairman has expressed “deep regret”.

Caltagirone is Generali's second-largest shareholder and was a member of several committees, including remuneration, appointments, corporate governance, ESG, investment and strategic operations.
