European insurers are well capitalised with the resilience to withstand the worst effects of a prolonged Covid pandemic, but some are too dependent on transitionary measures, a stress test has found.

The analysis, conducted with 43 insurers by the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (Eiopa), allowed firms to calculate their post-stress positions in two scenarios.
