2021 cat losses nearly 50% higher than long-term average: Jefferies

Insured cat losses for the year to date are 48% higher than the long-term 2008-2020 average, and more than 34% higher than the 10-year average, according to a report from Jefferies.

A study from the investment bank’s equity research unit stated that insured natural cat losses will be far higher in 2021 than the annual totals for the past three years, which will ultimately drive incurred claims above corporate budgets.
