IQUW to enter recall market with Talbot’s Atkinson
ERS-owned IQUW is to venture into recall with the launch of a crisis-management product led by Talbot’s Jon Atkinson, who will join in April 2022 as lead underwriter, Insurance Insider understands.
Initially, IQUW’s recall offering will primarily provide specialty product-recall cover globally, including product contamination, component part recall liability and first-party recall, with the carrier planning to expand into wider product covers.
Atkinson joins IQUW after spending 11 years at Talbot developing its crisis-management team. Prior to that, he spent three years at Hiscox.
IQUW group CEO Peter Bilsby said: “As we continue to execute on our strategy to build a diverse, multi-line portfolio, we will continue to expand our product suite to cover a greater range of specialty products.
“Jon joins IQUW with a huge amount of experience, and I am thrilled he will lead our crisis-management portfolio, developing it alongside our digital vision.”
IQUW has been on a hiring and expansion drive since ERS acquired the former Arcus syndicate at the end of last year.
The carrier recently hired Andrew Lewis from Hiscox to lead its growing cyber team.
The company also recently announced the appointment of Catherine Farnworth as chief risk officer.
This year, IQUW has launched several lines, including marine and energy, terror and war, cargo and specie, professional lines, property, cyber, specialty reinsurance and property reinsurance.
