Inver Re hires Howden’s Griffiths as director

Ardonagh’s reinsurance business Inver Re has hired former Howden executive Nick Griffiths as a director.

Griffiths has been appointed as a director of reinsurance, focusing on alternative capital and ILS business. He will report to Ardonagh’s reinsurance and capital CEO Steve Hearn.

Griffiths had worked at Howden for just under three years. He began his career at AJ Gallagher and has also worked for RFIB.

Expansive intermediary Ardonagh launched Inver Re after it closed its $500mn acquisition of Corant Global during the summer, which created the largest independent specialty and wholesale broking business in London.

Ardonagh organised its specialty business into three pillars: specialty broking, MGAs and capital solutions and reinsurance, headed by former Corant CEO Hearn.

Other recent hires to the reinsurance division include former Miller head of property Neil Higgins as head of facultative business.

Hearn said: “It’s our aim to bring a fresh perspective, choice and flexibility to the market – and attracting and empowering top talent is absolutely key to doing so.

“I’m very much looking forward to working with Nick, whose expertise and energy is going to help us become a reinsurance business of scale and relevance and in time a top five global player.”

Nick says: “I can’t wait to get started with Inver Re. It’s a new entrepreneurial, independent platform - with the opportunity to really change the face of reinsurance.”
