Ageas posts EUR161mn Q3 profit as flood losses hit EUR70mn

Ageas has reported a net profit of EUR161mn ($185mn) for the third quarter, with results impacted by losses of around EUR70mn from the floods that struck Europe in mid-July.

The Belgian carrier said that the total gross claims cost for the Belgian market from the floods is likely to have exceeded the cap of the intervention of the insurance sector, which was foreseen by the current legislation.
