Aviva increased gross written premium (GWP) in UK commercial insurance by 16% to £1.9bn ($2.5bn) during the first nine months of the year, as continued rate momentum helped fuel its top-line growth.

The carrier’s nine-month trading statement published today shows the UK commercial lines performance was also driven by “well-priced” new business opportunities, strong retention and GWP growth of 20% in its global corporate and speciality lines (GCS).
