Generali 9M P&C profit falls 2% despite doubling of cat losses

Generali’s nine-month P&C operating profit fell by 2.4% year on year to EUR1.79bn ($2.1bn), despite catastrophe claims for the period more than doubling year-on-year.

Underwriting: The combined ratio for the P&C segment increased by 1.6 points to 91.3%, with the carrier noting the rise was largely due to an increase in cat losses and an uptick in the expense ratio.
