Hiscox posts 6% GWP rise to $3.46bn, reserves $150mn for Ida and floods

Hiscox grew its gross written premium (GWP) by 6% to $3.46bn during the first nine months of 2021, its Q3 results show, as the carrier benefited from strong rate momentum across all business segments.

The trading update published this morning also shows that Hiscox has reserved a total of $150mn for major natural catastrophes taking place during the third quarter, with $110mn net reserved for Hurricane Ida and $40mn net for European floods.
