Willis Towers Watson has posted organic growth of 7% for the third quarter as net profit, boosted by a severance payout after the Aon deal collapsed, jumped by 646% to $903mn.

The broker’s profitability metrics were impacted by the receipt of $1bn of income from Aon, which was paid following the severance of the proposed merger.
