Former Willis Towers Watson regional leader for Middle East and Africa (MEA) downstream natural resources William Peilow is set to join AJ Gallagher, this publication can reveal.

As Insurance Insider reported last week, Peilow is the latest senior fac individual to depart from Willis, which has experienced a sustained outflow of talent from its fac and other departments.

He is joining as a partner in Gallagher’s specialty energy team, focusing on developing the broker’s energy proposition in the Middle East and Africa.

Jonathan Smith, managing partner for Gallagher’s energy practice, said: “We are delighted William is joining our team of energy specialists.

“He is a highly regarded insurance professional with in-depth knowledge of the energy markets and the Middle East. His recruitment demonstrates our continued commitment to provide clients with the best talent in the industry.”

Partner Nadim Semaan, to whom Peilow will report, added: “I am very pleased to have William joining our growing team and I am looking forward to working closely with him as we look to expand in the Middle East and Africa.

“His knowledge of these markets, plus his track record for developing and delivering complex risk transfer programmes for clients, sets him apart.”

Peilow has spent the entirety of his career to date at Willis, having joined as an intern 16 years ago.

He became divisional director of MEA international property in 2014, and then took on his most recent leadership role for downstream energy across MEA in January 2016.

Last week, this publication also revealed that former Willis emerging markets fac leader Julian Samengo-Turner will be taking up a role at Gallagher.
