Bermuda-based Arch Capital Group said it expects to absorb between $330mn and $345mn in pre-tax cat losses when it reports third-quarter results later this month.

The company said the projections were based on a global industry cat loss estimate of $45bn in the third quarter – including $30bn in losses from Ida and $12bn from European flooding.
