Yesterday, this publication revealed that Howden and Aston Lark were nearing a deal which could see the UK general insurance broker acquired for around £1.1bn-£1.2bn ($1.5bn-$1.6bn).

If Howden succeeds, it will have held off opposition from US retail broker Brown & Brown and PIB for the Peter Blanc-led broker.
