AM Best removes Watford Re from negative review after investment de-risking

AM Best has removed the review status on its rating of Watford Re, as the ratings agency said ongoing de-risking of the total return reinsurer’s investment portfolio would lead to more stability in its capitalisation.

Watford Re’s A- rating had been placed under review with negative implications in May 2020 after Covid-related investment write-downs.
